2) HORSE RACING TIPS: FRANK HICKEY’S 8 FAB FANCIES AT THE CURRAGH ON SATURDAY

.... ''''' 14:30 MORE BEAUTIFUL

I’m giving MORE BEAUTIFUL, who hasn’t won in five attempts since winning on her debut a chance here. She has been running in Group company though. Two races ago, she ran well at Leopardstown over a mile in the Guineas trial behind Joan Of Arc. Joan Of Arc has gone on to finish second in the Irish 1000 Guineas and she won the French Oaks.

More Beautiful was dropped from 1m down to 6 furlongs and she travelled well at the Curragh earlier this month. I’m not sure whether she didn’t finish the race well or they quickened away from her, but I’m going to give her the benefit of the doubt. She’s running off 97 here, and Aidan O’Brien won this in 2017. Hopefully, he can do it again.

15:05 DR ZEMPF

Castle Star has been very impressive in his last two wins, and they kept him at home from Ascot for this. However, DR ZEMPF won here at the start of the month on the same day that Point Lonsdale won at Ascot.

I love the way Dr Zempf travelled through that race, as he quickened away effortlessly. The third has come out since and won, and the second didn’t run too badly next time out as well. I’m really excited by him, he could be a really good one.

15:45 WORDSWORTH

High Definition is favourite but Hurricane Lane, who beat him in the Dante Stakes, is a much better price. My initial reaction after the Dante was that High Definition would turn that form around, but can you be that sure? So, it’s worth taking High Definition on.

The issue with Mac Swiney is the ground, when he gets soft ground he wins, but when conditions are good, it’s another story. The one I like at a potential big price is WORDSWORTH, and Aidan O’Brien has a superb record in this race. He also fits the profile of last year’s winner Santiago.

Wordsworth was a little unlucky in the Queen’s Vase, the race was steadily ran which didn’t suit him as he’s all about stamina. He’ll be ridden a bit more handy here and maybe sat in at second or third. He won’t be far off the leaders, and he can give it a right go late on. '' ... .

Single-event Sport Gambling in Canada to become Legal as Bill C-218 clears Senate

''' The Canadian Gaming Association has welcomed the possibility of working with provincial partners as a result of this decision. CEO of the CGA Paul Burns said, "This is a major milestone and achievement for the Canadian gaming industry. The CGA has been working to legalize single-event sports betting for more than 10 years and this bill benefited from a groundswell of broad stakeholder support across the country."

In Canada, a bill must be given royal assent by the Governor General prior to officially becoming an act of Parliament. Chief Justice Richard Wagner will perform this duty in this case. The bill would then become law on a date set by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his cabinet.

The quest to end the ban in single-game betting in Canada has been followed closely by gambling operators in Canada and overseas, ready to pounce on a new market expected to be worth billions of dollars. ''''

Las Vegas Casino bans UFC President Dana White after Winning $7M

White said, "When the Palms was owned by the Maloofs, I had beat them for 1.6 million dollars. Then as soon as the Palms was sold, the people who came in asked me to stop playing there. Las Vegas is all about losing, not winning. They don't like people who f**king win!"

"Then it sold again and the new ownership said we want you to come back and I beat them for 1.6m dollars again. Instead of just asking me to leave, they gave me [a title belt]. It says 'Undisputed blackjack champion, 24-0'. This is a cool way to say get the f**k out of our casino and don't come back."

Crikey : sports betting is changing the media business model

... ''' In Australia, News Corp is leading the pack with speculation that heir-apparent Lachlan Murdoch is eager to follow fellow billionaire’s-son James Packer (and former US president Donald Trump) into gambling through an ownership and licensing stake in the $2 billion revenues of Tabcorp’s sports betting arm.

Add ownership to the ad dollars the betting industry already provides, mix in the traditional media reluctance to bite the hand that feeds it, and its odds-on that sports reporting will increasingly follow the (gambling) money. Odds-on, too, that old media will lend its lobbying clout to push for deregulation and tax cuts for the industry.

Let’s be honest: media have never been shy of scooping the froth of sin-generated cash flows, whether they’re the tabloid-mediated soft porn of page three girls and discreetly positioned “adult” ads in the classifieds or the broadcast blaring of the cigarette naming rights sponsorships that once branded the country’s football and cricket. Chris Moorman vs Wife Katie Lindsay for WSOP Gold Ring - Poker/Casino/Betting News from BankrollMob.com

On Wednesday evening, something unusually special happened online in the WSOP January Super Series when married poker couple Chris "Robotobob47" Moorman and Katie "katelin" Lindsay found themselves on a heads-up match for a coveted WSOP gold ring.

Both the couple happily shared their thoughts after the event, starting with Moorman.

He said, "Winning my first circuit ring ended up giving me the weirdest range of emotions I've ever felt in poker. For the past few years, Katie has always said to me how much she wants to win one. I really believe she'd rather win one more than a WSOP bracelet if you take the money out of the equation. For me it's never been a focus or goal of mine, so to get heads up with her knowing how much more she wanted it than me I definitely found it tough to handle mentally."

He continued, "The competitor in me had to give 100% as I knew there would be no point in letting her win, she would have to earn the victory the hard way, but in turn I feel like I didn't play my best and I'd be the first to admit she outplayed me heads up and I got very lucky to win in the end. Normally there is no better feeling than winning a tournament but instead of feeling good and happy when I won a huge hand after backdooring into the nuts versus her I felt guilty for potentially taking a dream away from her. I've honestly never felt that before even against close friends or horses."

"The rest of the final table was business as usual but to get heads up with one another for the first time ever was very special and is a story and experience that is really fun to share with friends and family. I'll try and be extra helpful around the house this week for stealing the ring off her but I've no doubt that she will get it in the future because she is probably the most driven person I know."

What Katie Lindsay said...

Lindsay revealed that while her husband was at home playing the tournament, she actually played most of it while out to dinner with a girlfriend. She went back home to finish playing when there was a break near the final table.

She said, "Chris and I rarely play poker in the same room so it was funny yelling at each other after big hands from opposite sides of the house. Also, we love battling for the chip lead so there was definitely a lot of banter going on there. We had a massive hand that went down six-handed where he opened small blind and I re-raised with queens in the big blind. He jammed with ace-king and I called. He had me covered at this point 1.7 mil to my 1 mil I believe, but luckily I held."

She continued, "There is no soft playing between us, we are always battling every time we end up on a table together, and we definitely showed that in this event. Once we got heads up I moved into the office where he was playing, as I thought it would be a fun dynamic to be able to see each other's faces during hands. This actually was a big heads up for us as it wasn't about the money, it's about the titles and the accomplishments. I have been fighting hard for my first circuit ring and I really wanted it. Chris had never won a circuit event either so there was more than just bragging rights on the line."

ReBel is the name, poker is its game

... ''' History of AIs in Skill-based Games
May 2015 - four poker players named Bjorn Li, Dong Kim, Doug Polk, and Jason Les, battled against AI Claudico. The 80,000 hands challenge that lasted 8 weeks concluded with 3 of the 4 pros winning considerably against the program, though the computer experts called it a tie.

2016 - the AI named AlphaGO created by Google DeepMind software had beaten the best Go players in the world. Go is a Chinese game resembling chess involving two players and determined strategies.

January 2017 - the contest "Brains vs. Artificial Intelligence: Upping the Ante" involved AI Libratus defeating poker pros Daniel McAulay, Dong Kim, Jason Les, and Jimmy Chou.

2019 - Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) researchers developed AI systems, Cepheus and DeepStack, that are able to handle complex games like poker. After five years of research, the team claimed it had successfully solved 6-Max No-Limit Hold'em poker.

ReBel is the name, poker is its game
The name of the bot is the shortened form of "Recursive Belief-based Learning" which focuses on self-learning amid imperfect information conditions. In the paper's title it said "Combining Deep Reinforcement Learning and Search for Imperfect-Information Games, written by Noam Brown, Anton Bakhtin, Adam Lerer, and Qucheng Gong from the Facebook AI Research team."

ReBel was made based on the earlier poker AI Deepstack, the first bot to beat a human back in 2017. Just like AI Libratus, ReBel makes use of self-play to learn how to play heads-up No-Limit Hold'em. The main difference with ReBel versus other early poker AI versions is that it uses the so-called public belief states (PBS).

PBS is a new self-learning mechanism used by ReBel, which includes not only analyzing current information about the game but it also has an intuitive decision-making skills based on the previous moves made by the opponents.

ReBel takes into consideration not only the info about the visual game state, like the bet sizing, known cards, and even the range of hands the opponent may have, but it also accounts for each player's belief about the state they are in. This is somewhat similar to how a real human might consider whether an opponent thinks he is ahead or behind in a certain hand.

To make this possible, ReBel trains two different AI models via self-play reinforcement learning: a value network and a policy network. The bot then operates on PBS.

Simply put, ReBel not only analyzes the hand itself but it also analyzes how to opponent evaluates it, just like what successful (human) players do.

ReBel's Results Revealed
The Facebook team conducted experiments in which ReBel played two-player version of Hold'em, turn endgame Hold'em (a simplified version of the game with no raises on the first two betting rounds), and Liar's Dice.

Compared to all its predecessors, ReBel is obviously much faster - it spends at least 2 seconds less than Libratus. In general, no more than 5 seconds to decide and make a move.

So far the only poker player that battled against ReBel is Dong Kim - he was also one of the players who lost to Libratus. After 7,500 hands, the poker bot outperformed the human player for 0.165BB per hand, while Libratus scored 0.147BB. ''' ...
